There is a lot happening under the roof of Abigail’s Learning Centre!  Not only do we have a licensed daycare for 77 children supported by Registered Early Childhood Educators and Enhanced Support Workers from Family Space, we offer programming for youth, adults and their children. The children attend daycare while their parents work on their individual goals and programs.

The Family and Child Enhancement Program (FACE) takes place daily, during which time participants work towards obtaining their grade 12 diploma, positive parenting, budgeting, cooking and safe food handling, anger management, employability, life skills and individual goal-setting. The familySTRONG program is offered every Tuesday afternoon at 12:30pm as a drop-in group providing prenatal, birth and post-natal care, breastfeeding, healthy brains, attachment, screening services and more. Babies and Beyond is a community drop-in program hosted at Abigail’s every Thursday at 12:30pm for expecting and teen moms 21 years of age and under. Guest speakers are a highlight, ages and stages of development are tracked, upgrading is available and lots of time for socializing and crafting with other teen parents. The importance of babies’ early years is facilitated, attunement and attachment, social, life skills and positive parenting are regular subjects. Father’s Matter is a program for Dads hosted at Abigail’s offering a 24-hour Cribside Assistance Manual and education to engage Dad in taking part to raise the next generation.

An immunization clinic with Public Health nurses takes place monthly. Acting as a Good Food Box (GFB) depot for the Community Development Council offers the convenience of paying for and picking up the GFB on site. All our programs are supported with the many partnerships we have developed and value in our community. We have a Triple P practitioner and Social Service Worker on site daily, weekly our programs are supported on site by Public Health with a Public Health Nurse and Health Promoters, Belleville & Quinte West Community Health Centre supports programs with Social Workers, Dieticians and Health Promoters. Youthhab facilitates an anger management course and supports for our youth. Counselling Services of Belleville & District’s Infant Development Worker delivers screening and education on babies milestones to the parents. Three Oaks provides an Outreach Counsellor and Education Worker educating our young women about abuse and the effects of children witnessing abuse. Ontario Works augments Babies and Beyond with their Learning Earning and Parenting(LEAP) Social Service Worker weekly. A Child & Youth Worker is on site weekly from Children’s Mental Health Services to support parenting and mental health issues and provide intensive home visits when required.
