Fresh for All 2016

Fresh For All is a community-wide movement to provide fresh vegetables and fruits to food banks and meal programs within Hastings and Prince Edward counties.

The concept is simple: if you’re planting a vegetable garden this summer, simply add an extra row or two that can be shared at harvest time.

According to the 2014 Canadian Community Household Survey:

  • 5% of all Hastings-Prince Edward households experienced food insecurity
  • An increase of 600 people since 2012
  • Still one of the highest rates of food insecurity in Ontario

Everyone is invited to participate in the 2016 Fresh for All campaign – individuals, families, agencies, businesses, clubs, churches and schools.

Whether you’re an avid gardener or a novice green-thumb, participating is easy, fun, and helps provide fresh food for all.

Yours will become the most important garden in the world… to every family it reaches.

The 17th annual Good Baby Box Food Drive – May 9th to June 19th is collecting jars of baby food or monetary donations.  The goal for 2016 is 7,500 jars – an increase of 50% over last year. For more information or to arrange a pick-up call Bev Heuving at the CDC main office at 613-968-2466.
