Fresh For All is a community-wide movement to provide fresh vegetables and fruits to food banks and meal programs within Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
The concept is simple: if you’re planting a vegetable garden this summer, simply add an extra row or two that can be shared at harvest time.
According to the 2014 Canadian Community Household Survey:
- 5% of all Hastings-Prince Edward households experienced food insecurity
- An increase of 600 people since 2012
- Still one of the highest rates of food insecurity in Ontario
Everyone is invited to participate in the 2016 Fresh for All campaign – individuals, families, agencies, businesses, clubs, churches and schools.
Whether you’re an avid gardener or a novice green-thumb, participating is easy, fun, and helps provide fresh food for all.
