FRANCOPHONE RESOURCE: Educavie.ca is a hub for French professionals in health units, community health centres and school boards across Ontario. It promotes health promotion activities and resources in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, healthy eating, physical literacy as well as development and sexuality. HAVE A HEART DAY is February 14:  Celebrations on Parliament Hill are set for February 10.  First Nations children on reserve receive less funding from the federal government for education, child welfare and health services than all other children receive from the provinces and territories.

Have a Heart

Have a Heart Day brings together caring Canadians to help ensure First Nations children living on reserve have the services they need to grow up safely at home, get a good education, be healthy, and be proud of who they are.

Enyonkwa’nikonhriyohake’ (Good Minds) will be offering a free breakfast on February 5, 7am-10:30am in the Teaching Lodge at the Community Wellbeing Centre to celebrate Have a Heart Day. Come for breakfast and sign a letter to the Prime Minister showing your support.

ParticipACTION’S “Make Room for Play” campaign continues – even though our local campaign ended June 1, 2015.  Please CLICK HERE for tips and strategies to help families balance screen time with active play time.

NEW INCLUSIVE PROGRAM:  Beginning February 16 from 3-5pm, TMFRC will offer an inclusive drop-in playgroup for children with special needs ages 0-8 years and their parents. Children’s friends are also welcome. Please CLICK HERE for bilingual poster.

WONDER OF LEARNING EXHIBIT:  The Wonder of Learning exhibit from Reggio Emilia is coming to Toronto in 2016 with the opening conference June 23-25, 2016.  The exhibit is intended to “honour the intelligence of children and educators.”  Conferences will also be held, featuring keynote speakers from Reggio Emilia and other smaller-scale professional learning opportunities.
