CYSNetwork News Exchange – 10/10/14

Good morning CYSN Members and Community Partners,

EARLY YEARS:  A new early ID and intervention event called Story Plus! will be offered on October 21st and November 25th to parents in Tyendinaga who want answers to questions about speech, language and literacy development.  Partners include child care staff joined by a speech-language pathologist, an early literacy specialist, a resource consultant and an infant-child development worker.  See STRIP FLYER for details or contact dkaye@familyspace.ca and 613-966-9427 x270.

MENTAL HEALTH:  This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. At the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, “a group of young professionals committed to changing how we talk about mental illness, launched their first major initiative – the Breakthrough Challenge. Videos featuring the research of a select group of up-and-coming CAMH scientists became available online throughout the week, offering a chance to vote for the research that speaks to you, and help determine who will advance to the live event on November 6th.”  Voting closes October 30th.

YOUTH:  The Quinte West Youth Centre has many reasons to celebrate – an Ontario Trillium Foundation funding announcement as well as community support, partnerships and collaboration to name a few.  A community celebration will be held on October 14th at 4pm.  See FLYER for details. Call 613-392-6946 for information.
