ONTARIO SPECIAL NEEDS STRATEGY FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH: Just in from the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, Ministry of Community and Social Services, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. “Ontario’s Special Needs Strategy marks the beginning of a new way of delivering services to children and youth with special needs and their families . . . children’s agencies and other service providers, including health service providers and District School Boards, are expected to collaborate to improve service experiences and outcomes for children and youth with multiple and/or complex special needs and their families.” See Coordinated Service Planning Guidelines and Coordinated Service Planning Proposal Instructions.
REMINDER – INFANT MENTAL HEALTH AND ATTACHMENT CONFERENCE: Health, social services and child care providers are invited to a one-day conference called Helping Children Soar on Wednesday, October 8th, 8:30am-3:30pm in Kingston. Organized by the KFL&A Prenatal to 6 Committee in collaboration with the KFL&A Health Unit, it will be of particular interest to those working with pre and perinatal women, new parents and infants. The $65 registration fee includes a light breakfast and lunch. Spaces are limited and the registration deadline is September 30th.
