The following news items are sure to be of interest to you.  Where applicable, please share with colleagues and clients:

CHILD CARE AND EARLY YEARS SYSTEM TRANSFORMATION:  Child Care Modernization Act 2013 legislation has been introduced and public input will be sought on a number of regulatory changes to the Day Nurseries Act that are designed to improve access, safety and quality.  Please refer to the December 5th letter from Education Minister Liz Sandals – English and French versions.  The opportunity to provide feedback, will soon be available through the Ontario Regulatory Registry.  Bill 143, which may be viewed on the Legislative Assembly website, will also impact the Education Act and the Early Childhood Educators Act.  These are very exciting times for child care!

FOOD SECURITY:  Gleaners Food Bank is holding its Annual Celebratory Fundraiser on January 25th at the Belleville Banquet Centre which will include a locally harvested meal, an entertaining theatre production and the When a Community Gets Its Wings celebration. To purchase tickets, please call 613-962-9043 or visit GLEANERS.

SPACE IS STILL AVAILABLE for BRIDGES TO SUCCESS which begins on Monday, January 20th and offers lessons in conflict resolution, establishing healthy relationships and conducting informational interviews.  This Loyola program is designed to “help adult learners, especially single parents, effectively navigate the many stresses and frustrations of real life.”  Please refer clients in need of tools and strategies to finish high school, enter the workforce or pursue post-secondary education to Katharine Davis at 966-9210.
