ADVOCACY – POVERTY ACTION ITEM: The Ontario Government is in the process of developing the next Poverty Reduction Strategy. Over 40,000 children were lifted out of poverty during the first three years of the strategy. Please visit Together Ontario and tell your MPP that strong action is required to build on the last strategy.
CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER: SEE the latest CMHS newsletter in which Executive Director, Terry Swift, refers to the draft Child and Youth Mental Health Service Framework and the importance of establishing and maintaining clear service pathways. Building pathways to improved access to services is a CYSN priority too and consistent with the work of the CYSN Service Pathway/Community Engagement Committee.
COMMUNITY SERVICE EXPO 2013: Let’s aim to more than double the number of visitors again in 2014! Participating exhibitors are invited to the Community Service Network meeting on Wednesday, November 27th, 9-10am at the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, 156 Ann Street Belleville – http://goo.gl/maps/IMfQY – where an Expo debrief discussion will be held to help plan for 2014.

Hastings & Prince Edward Counties Health Unit is conducting a survey to better understand public awareness and perception of its services. All responses will remain confidential and will be used solely for the purpose of informing the future communications strategies of the Hastings & Prince Edward Counties Health Unit. NATIONAL CHILD DAY WAS NOVEMBER 20TH Ensuring that children understand their basic rights is key to helping them practice their rights and respecting the rights of others. There are a number of ways that you can encourage a discussion on children’s rights. The Public Health Agency of Canada has a toolkit that includes a colouring poster as well as suggested activities for children of all ages in English, French and Inuktitut. The website also includes a host of other resources available for caregivers, parents and educators.
RESPITE CARE JOB FAIR: The Out-of-Home Respite Committee will be holding a Respite Care Job Fair on November 28th, 5-7pm at Maranatha Church, 100 College Street West, Belleville.
