EDUCATION:  You are invited to help build the next phase in Ontario’s education strategy.  Please see attached invitation for you to participate in the regional consultation in Ottawa on October 15, 2013.  CLICK HERE TO REGISTER by October 10, 2013 using registration code VG54.

HEALTHY LIVING WORKSHOP:  Let’s work together to shape community policy that supports healthy eating and active living.  Workshops are being offered on Monday, November 4th – Bancroft from 10am to noon and Belleville from 2:30-4:30pm.  Please register before October 25th.  For more information, see flyer or visit  Community partners are also encouraged to participate in this project by filling out an online stakeholder survey.

NEWS RELEASE FROM MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND LONG TERM CARE  – Helping Ontario Families Make Healthier Food Choices.  Please visit

PARENT SURVEY:  Researchers at the University of Ottawa are studying parental discipline and have developed an online survey for parents over 18 years of age with children 2-11 years.  The purpose of this study is to gather information that will inform public programs on how to support parents in their disciplinary practices.   Please consider sharing with your parents.  Participants will be entered into a draw to win one of two $50 VISA cards.  Visit

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP:  Monday, November 11, 2013, 10am-3pm, will focus on recruitment, retention and managing volunteers in the 21st Century. YOUTH OPPORTUNITY:  The Government of Ontario has invested $10 million over five years in Studio Y an impact and leadership academy for young people (18-29 years old) from around the province. In January 2014, up to 25 young leaders and innovators from across Ontario will be invited to MaRS Discovery District to participate in an eight-month residential fellowship focused on personal mastery, 21st century skills development, project-based real-world experience, and systems change leadership.  You are encouraged to share opportunity with young people in your network who may be interested in the Studio Y fellowship.
