The CYSN Service Pathway / Community Engagement Committee, currently comprised of representatives from both school boards, the Hub, TMFRC, Abigail’s, Children’s Mental Health Services, Family Space, HPE Learning Foundation, Highland Shores Children’s Aid, Mental Health Services, Belleville and Quinte West Community Health Centre, Community Organized Support and Prevention, Community Living Prince Edward, Prince Edward – Lennox & Addington Social Services and Youthab, has been tasked with moving HPE towards a family-centred, seamless service system through the integration of “No Wrong Door” and “Warm Hand-Off” approaches to information and referral among community service organizations. .
Service Pathway Committee / Community Engagement Committee highlights to date include:
√ Developed a 2-hour “No Wrong Door” and “Warm Hand-Off” workshop and resources
√ Trained 19 community train-the-trainers
√ Offered six workshops across HPE to over 400 school staff and service providers, in combination with the launch of “Checkered Flags”
√ Delivered seven dedicated workshops to service providers in Bancroft, Belleville and Picton
√ Evaluated the effectiveness of workshops and resources through participant surveys and trainer feedback.
Next steps for September will include (but are not limited to):
◊ Entering phase 2 of “No Wrong Door” and “Warm Hand-Off” training which means continuing to train CYSN member organizations and expanding out into the community
◊ Looking at alternatives to “No Wrong Door” and “Warm Hand-Off” workshop delivery; e.g., power trainers, youtube videos
◊ Developing a parent/youth engagement strategy.
