CYSNetwork News Exchange – 30/08/13

Hello CYSN Members and Community Partners,

MEMBERSHIP:  Welcome East Central Ontario Training Board, our newest CYSN member organization!  Many of you will recall that the ECOTB supported the CYSN in March 2013 by providing funds for our “No Wrong Door” train-the-trainer session.  To learn more about the ECOTB, please visit http://focusontraining.com/

SOCIAL MEDIA:  I am pleased to share a youtube video developed by Family Space Quinte to promote their licensed Home Child Care program  – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uu2EgwnVpXQ&feature=em-upload_owner.  Please pass along to others as appropriate.

As you all know, use of the internet to get information out to families is consistent with our 2012 Community Action Research Project (CARP) findings.  This Fall, the Service Pathway/Community Engagement Committee will be working with the Communication Team to investigate the use of social media strategies; e.g., youtube videos, to demonstrate and promote a “No Wrong Door / Warm Hand-Off” approach to information and referral to intake, front-desk and front-line staff.

FROM MCYS:  Attached is a MEMO with updated information regarding the Child and Parent Resource Institute (CPRI)’s Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Clinic’s province-wide service available for children and youth in Ontario who present with an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis and significant behavioural challenges, called ASD2.  In addition to the memo there is an addendum, “Child and Parent Resource Institute’s ASD2 Initiative: Recent Program Changes” and an updated document on the “Process for Accessing the Provincial Autism Service (ASD2 Program) at CPRI” for your review.  Should you require further information regarding the attached, or have any questions, please contact Joan Gardiner, Program Support Manager (acting) at CPRI at (519) 858-2774 ext. 5530 or joan.gardiner@ontario.ca.   If you require a French version of the attachments, please email h.salsbury@ontario.ca.

CYSN “COLLECTIVE IMPACT” BLOG:  Because this article is a “must read” for CYSN members and community partners, the “Collective Impact” blog will continue as the most recent post for another week.

I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend!

Wendy Anderson, Coordinator, Children and Youth Services Network
