In spite of some bumps and growing pains along the way, the Network, under the leadership of co-chairs Kelly Mathieson (Family Space) and Theresa Kennedy (Algonquin and Lakeshore District School Board), has been successful at moving through the transition period that accompanies any restructure.
Terms of reference and work plans for all teams and committees have received Network approval, and working groups have been struck to tackle the two red flag community indicators identified by the Network for community action:
- Food insecurity; and
- Kindergarten students who are developmentally at risk.
The Membership Agreement, created by working group members Amy Watkins (United Way Quinte), Margo Russell-Bird (Quinte Children’s Treatment Centre and Preschool Speech and Language) and Maribeth deSnoo (Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation) with the assistance of Theresa Dostaler of Synergy Research and Evaluation Consulting and the support of an MCYS Innovation Grant, is being distributed to community partners for their signature.
The Communication Team is planning a media event for May 23rd featuring:
- A ceremonial signing of the CYSN membership agreement;
- Release of the Community Report Card brochure; and
- CYSN website launch.
